Lavender is one of the best-known essential oils and is also one of the most versatile.  Known for its anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, antiseptic, antibacterial, and microbial properties, is also is antispasmodic and detoxifying.  What does that mean for you?  That it can be diluted with carrier oil and massaged into joints and muscles to help alleviate pain, aches, and stiffness.  Applied as a compress it can also be effective.

A study published in the journal of Medical Microbiology “found that Lavender oil kills fungi by damaging their cell walls” without the side effects of many antibiotics and topical ointments. Acne, eczema, and psoriasis are helped through their healing and it may help form scar tissue in healing wounds, cuts, and burns.  Even lice, their eggs, and nits are killed by the application of harmless Lavender.  It has also been a proven mosquito and moth repellant.

Probably best known for its relaxing and stress-relieving properties, it can be an effective, safe, and non-habit-forming sleep inducer. Diffusing it in your home helps children relax and can help in stressful situations.  Just a little on sheets, linens, or bedding offers a sweet, comforting environment for fussy or overtired babies.
